In the heart of Copenhagen, 1 Hotel is conceived as a tranquil retreat where nature and comfort exist in quiet harmony. Rooted in a philosophy of sustainability and mindful living, the interiors are defined by natural materials, soft textures, and a calming atmosphere that invites guests to slow down and reconnect.

For this project, Made Specific developed bespoke lighting solutions designed to support and enhance this sensory experience. The lighting is carefully integrated into the architectural concept, working in balance with the material palette to create a warm, grounded and restorative environment.

In the guest rooms, lightweight pendants crafted from Kozo paper introduce a soft, diffused glow that gently fills the space. Their tactile quality and natural expression echo the hotel’s commitment to organic materials and understated design. Complementing the pendants, custom-made reading lights provide focused, comfortable illumination. Allowing guests to unwind, read, or rest without disturbing the overall calm.

A sculptural wall lamp and a refined floor lamp add depth and layering to the lighting scheme, contributing to a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. In the bathrooms, bespoke lighting ensures soft, even illumination, enhancing both functionality and a sense of quiet luxury.

Across all spaces, the lighting is designed to feel intuitive and unobtrusive—never dominating, but always supporting. Through carefully balanced light, Made Specific helps shape an environment where guests can fully experience a sense of calm, connection, and wellbeing in the centre of the city.
